About The First Tee of Atlanta
Based in Southwest Atlanta at the John A. White Golf Course, The First Tee of Atlanta is a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching Atlanta youth life skills and golf skills in a seamless fashion. The First Tee of Atlanta was founded in 2000 and is a chapter of The First Tee, an international youth program created by the World Golf Foundation in 1997.

Annually, The First Tee of Atlanta serves more than 600 young people using the 9-hole golf course, 40+ Tee Range and practice green of John A. White in a manner that allows the facility to be open to the public year round.

About our Youth Program
We serve young people throughout metropolitan Atlanta without restrictions for residency or socioeconomic status. Our youth program provides life skills and golf training for children ages 7-17.

Each year we conduct four sessions and one summer camp. Each session consists of eight weeks of golf and life skills classes. Registration is held prior to the start of each session. Please the 2010 Program Schedule for specific dates and times.  For more information on registration, click on Programs & Instruction

Currently enrolled participants can find testing information on the Bulletin Board located under Programs & Instruction.

  About our Home Course
John A. White Golf Course is a 9-hole regulation golf course with some of the best greens to be found in the city of Atlanta. There are two Par 5's, four Par 4's, and three Par 3's for a total yardage of 2,842.  The course is open to the public on a year round basis. The range is an excellent practice facility with several marked target greens, a bunker and a putting green.  For hours and fees, click on John A. White Golf Course.

Our Mission & Core Values
The First Tee of Atlanta's mission is to positively impact the lives of Atlanta's young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.

The organization works to instill the following First Tee Nine Core Values in each participant:

Instructors
Through the generous donation of time by volunteer instructors, we serve several hundred children each year. Our volunteers work under the guidance of Resident Instructor William Lewis, a two-time recipient of the Georgia Junior Golf Instructor of the Year award. To learn more about how you can volunteer, click on Volunteers & Involvement

Achievements
Several children in our program have gone on to play in numerous tournaments and on collegiate golf teams. But more importantly, through the life skills curriculum from The First Tee of Atlanta, children have learned to apply life skills and model our core values on a daily basis.

Financial Support
The First Tee of Atlanta receives financial support through corporate and individual donations, grants and the greens fees collected at the John A. White Golf Course. For a list of our donors, click on Donations & Contributions.
