  General Program Information

The First Tee of Atlanta teaches life skills and golf to children ages 7 to 17 years old. Membership is open to children throughout metropolitan Atlanta on a first come, first served basis. Children attend classes held on Saturdays, Tuesdays or Thursdays. Click here to download the 2010 Program Schedule

Golf training spans introductory to advanced level. The life skill curriculum includes training on interpersonal, self-management and goal setting skills.  Instructors teach golf and life skills in a seamless fashion.  Training is conducted on the range and golf course. (Please see below for Junior Access Policies.)  Children do not have to own golf clubs to participate in the program.  A nominal fee of $27 is charged for registration.  All new participants must begin at PLAYer level, regardless of golf ability. Participants can advance from PLAYer to ACE level based on their performance on certification tests.

While golf is a major draw for participants and their families, it is important to note that the focus of The First Tee of Atlanta is to help young people develop life skills that lead them to adopt the Nine Core Values (Honesty, Integrity, Judgment, Perseverance, Courtesy, Confidence, Sportsmanship, Respect, and Responsibility). Children are taught to apply the skills in all aspects of their lives (in school, at home, and in the community).

For information about how to join The First Tee of Atlanta, please see the Registration page on the left side bar under Programs & Instruction.  See current news, click on the Bulletin Board link under Programs and Instruction.

The First Tee Life Skills Experience is one of the unique features that differentiates The First Tee from many other successful junior golf programs.  Through the Life Skills Experience, participants learn valuable lessons about the importance of maintaining a positive attitude; how to make decisions by thinking about the possible consequences and how to define and set goals from the golf course to everyday life.
The First Tee Certification Process
